Srebrnjaci - Silver coins for investment or gift

Srebrnjak or silver coins have been the most common money made of throughout history precious metal. Silver was the ideal material for making coins because it is rare in nature and can permanently preserve its value, but still there is more of it than gold, so it was possible to make enough coins from it for the daily use of the entire population of a particular kingdom or empire.

Unlike gold, there is significant industrial demand for silver, so refined silver supplies available to mankind are significantly smaller than gold supplies. Apart from a private pension, silver coins can be left as an inheritance to children and grandchildren.

Silver coins are usually made of metal with a purity of 99,9% and are engraved with the same images that are found on gold coins. They are produced by the same mints that make gold coins and other products that are categorized as investment precious metals.

Popular silver coins

Silver coins that are popular in Croatia and surrounding countries bear the image of musical instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and are produced by the Austrian Mint (Münze Österreich). Probably the most popular silver coins in the world are the "American Eagle" (Silver American Eagle), produced in various sizes by the US Mint since 1986, when the US Congress authorized the minting of these coins. American coins are also in demand for bison coins, which usually weigh one ounce and contain 99,9% pure silver.

The most famous Canadian coins bear the image maple leaf and are sold worldwide. When buying investment gold in the form of bars or gold coins, according to EU laws, neither VAT nor capital gains tax is paid, therefore investment gold is much more sought after by investors looking for security than investment silver.
